WALNUT
Walnut is a prized domestic wood for its chocolate heartwood. Our walnut is $8/board foot. We also have a collection of walnut that came from a military cemetery that dates back to the Revolutionary War and has veterans from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War. Because we had to take extra time and care in removing the trees from the cemetery we are asking $9/board foot for that walnut.
Cherry is a beautiful deep, rich wood prized by woodworkers for generations. We have been fortunate enough to salvage several downed cherry trees. We took the time to mill some shorter "double live edge" pieces that are perfect for making charcuterie boards and other small projects. There is a nice contrast between the reddish heartwood and the cream colored sapwood. $7/board foot.
Red and white oak trees are probably the most common domestic hardwoods. They are durable and beautiful. They are also one of the least expensive hardwoods when purchased from sawyers. We sell both red oak and white oak for $4/board foot.
Ambrosia maple is a soft maple tree that has been attacked by the Ambrosia beetle. The result is a creamy white wood with dark brown streaks. Our Ambrosia maples sells for $6/board foot.
It is difficult to find red cedar that is 12" wide. But we have a small supply of that as well as a collection of pieces that are 6"-10". Cedar is $4/board foot
Hickory is one of the hardest and most durable domestic hardwoods. Its beautiful straight grain makes it an excellent wood for many projects. Hickory is $4.50/board foot
